What is a chemical anchor? Which products were preferred in the application? Chemical anchors are materials used to hold concrete or concrete-like hard materials vertically to each other. Chemical anchors have many advantages over physical anchors. Chemical anchors, which completely fill the voids and roughnesses thanks to their liquid structure and provide sealing, also do not have the limits of mechanical anchors. They can be applied as deeply as desired.

It is recommended to use chemical anchors together with mechanical anchors. Thus, superior strength and anchorage can be obtained.

In chemical anchor applications, cement and epoxy based, epoxy acrylate etc. based different products are used. Some testing is required to find the right product and calculate the desired tensile strength. Especially in repair and strengthening works, it is necessary to determine the compressive strength of concrete beforehand. Chemical anchors suitable for the obtained concrete compressive strength should be preferred. There are two methods for determining the compressive strength of concrete: destructive and non-destructive.

- An example of a destructive test method is "coring". It is taken from the previously poured concrete, where it does or does not damage the reinforcement as little as possible. (The cored area must be filled later with suitable repair mortars.). A cap is attached to the concrete sample taken, and then the concrete is broken and the compressive strength is determined. While evaluating the core, the age of the concrete from which the core is taken, the amount of iron reinforcement in it, and the core dimensions are taken into account.

- Schmidt hammer, ultrasound and concrete samples taken from the concrete plant or the construction site before pouring the concrete into the mold can be given as examples of the non-destructive test method. In this method, the compressive strength is determined without damaging the concrete.
